I decided to start a blog to document my experiences, hoping that someone out there would relate, and understand that they are not alone with their fears and pressures of adulthood. I hope to motivate people to keep pushing forward despite the odds, and I hope that on Monday morning, you read a page of this blog and get your behind to work or school or wherever you got to be, to live in your present phase of life.
"Tee, your site is ready!" I was ecstatic. My friends were excited for me. Everything was awesome. The day was bright. So, with a big grin on my face, phone in hand, I stared hard at the blank MS document hoping the words would write themselves.
Eight hours after my blog was published, I was almost going crazy thinking of a "FIRST BLOG POST". I turned the internet upside down, contemplated deleting the site and just going back to normal. Until I realized something; I am allowed to make mistakes, and it doesn't have to be perfect.
Hi, my name is Treasure Abaa, and I'm happy to say that there's no judge and jury here.
As a kid, all I wanted was to grow up. When I turned 19, my life turned in synchrony with my age. I had dozens of friends; both fake and real, I met lecturers that were plain evil, my lipstick became a bible, and most shocking of all was the attention I called to myself. One word, BOYS! I was in the university, rolling with the coolest dopiest set of humans out there, partying hard, and covering scheme of work a day to the exam. My life got way more interesting than I had planned for.
With my feeling of adulthood, came some serious anxiety; The pressure to finish school with at least a 3.5 CGPA, to start earning some money until I became the female Mark Zuckerberg, finally meet the love of my life outside the country and come back to Nigeria to throw the most flamboyant and extra wedding ever.
Pheew! All of this before I turned 25, no pressure at all.
“So, come with me where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings forever.”
